In
the sanitary department the world has dissolved behind static tilework.
Sorrow reigns in cold compartments, consolation is merely a word. Amidst
the lonely creatures on this page are the only stll-lifes in this oeuvre:
boldly enlarged lavatory pans and other sanitary ceramics in desperate
need of a cleaning lady. The series ´the victims`consists of works
in various sizes depicting isolated human beings posing miserably in front
of tiled walls. The characters portrayed are either waiting in a state
of utter apathy or prey to hysterical convulsions. Despite their attire
of common lingerie they appear to stand naked and deprived of hope. Ominous
clues in deciphering inherent doom lie in the title spanning these portraits,
and in the final segment on this page. This part is dominated by 'The
Slaugtherhouse`, a larger than life scene from the meatprocessing industry
in which the fat stock consists of humans, or parts thereof. Inspiration
for this line of work was gathered during a week of processing dissected
pigs in an abattoir and a subsequent conversion to vegetarianism. Subject
of this work is the discrepancy between violence and indifference
